Jeffrey R. Swanson specializes in defense litigation and he represents clients in construction accident and construction defect cases, product liability cases, liquor liability, automobile liability and professional liability cases. He also handles nursing home liability, employment and public entity defense cases. Jeff handles all aspects of litigation, including mediation, arbitration, trial and appeals. He handles serious injury cases and wrongful death cases on behalf of the defense.

Jeff also practices in the area of business litigation and he holds an accountancy degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Jeff handles cases throughout the State of New Jersey in the New Jersey Superior Court and the United States District Court. He also counsels clients and insurance carriers in risk management issues.

Jeff published Atlanta College of Medical and Dental Careers, Inc. v. Riley: The Right of a School to Appeal the Education Department’s Calculation of its Loan Default Rate in the Journal of College and University Law.

Representative Matters:

  • Jeff has negotiated favorable settlements for subcontractors in large scale construction defect cases, including a recent settlement in the case of Port Liberte II Condominium Association v. New Liberty Residential Urban Renewal Company, LLC.
  • Jeff obtained summary judgment on behalf of our client in a case concerning an alleged malfunctioning elevator, Dangerfield v. Extra Space Storage, and he obtained summary judgment on behalf of a hotel restaurant whose employee was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a hotel patron in the matter of Warren v. Marrin.
  • Jeff successfully obtained summary judgment dismissing all claims for our client in the medical malpractice case of Estate of Stanley Silver v. Christ Hospital, and obtained voluntary dismissals without any settlement payment on behalf our clients in the medical malpractice cases of Jacobson v. Hurley and Brown v. Specialists in Otolaryngology.
